Significant events over the last decade have transformed the landscape of South and Central Asia, and the role played by the United States in the region.
Gateway House hosted a private meeting with Claudio Lillienfeld on September 15 to discuss the US perspective on this changing great game and its implications for our continent. Mr. Lillienfeld is currently Director, South and Central Asia with McLarty Associates, a strategic advisory firm for U.S. and multinational companies.
Prior to joining McLarty Associates, Mr. Lilienfeld served as Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for South and Central Asia overseeing the crafting of trade policy, and advising private sector companies. Mr. Lilienfeld drafted and negotiated two major bilateral agreements between the United States and India: the New Framework for the U.S.-India Defense Relationship of 2005 and the Framework for Cooperation in Trade and Investment of 2010.
