The dialogue for the CEPEA has been in the preliminary stages since 2006, but took off in 2008-09 when India and Australia and New Zealand entered specific trade agreements with ASEAN. The idea was promoted by Japan and the ERIA (Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia)&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Current Status:&lt;br /&gt;
The ASEAN countries are currently considering one of two alternatives, the CEPEA and the East Asia Free Trade Agreement. A decision is to be taken by the ASEAN countries at their October 2010 summit.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
