Sharmila Joshi

Sharmila Joshi has been a researcher as well as a journalist for decades, and has also extensively worked as an independent consultant/ editor for NGOs and other institutions. As a researcher, she has written on issues of globalisation, gender, labour, and rural governance. She was a member of the Research Working Group on Categories of Social Knowledge, Fernand Braudel Center, State University of New York, Binghamton, where she did her Masters in historical sociology. As a journalist, she has written on development issues for numerous national and international publications; some of her articles have been re-published in academic texts. She has received fellowships from the National Foundation for Media, New Delhi; the Dhiren Bhagat Memorial Trust, Mumbai; and the World Press Institute, Minnesota, U.S. Sharmila continues to teach courses in journalism as visiting faculty in Mumbai.
