In the third week of September, Charles Xue, one of China’s most influential bloggers, who was in custody on charges of allegedly soliciting sex workers, confessed on the state-run CCTV to posting irresponsible rumours online. Xue’s confession was linked to a new judicial interpretation that further polices the internet in China. This incident demonstrates China’s approach to governing cyberspace – through censorship.
