Dialogue on Trusteeship: A futuristic ideal

Dialogue on Trusteeship: A futuristic ideal

On January 30, Gateway House in collaboration with the Sabarmati Ashram hosted a round table conversation led by Tridip Suhrud, Director, Sabarmati Ashram and Rajni Bakshi, Senior Gandhi Peace Fellow, Gateway House, on the role of Trusteeship as a futuristic ideal, at Shantisadan, Ahmedabad. The dialogue, held to commemorate the 66th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, explored his ideal of trusteeship as playing a role in building mutually beneficial relations between business and society.

Gandhian scholar Tridip Suhrud, a recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award for English translation of “Harilal Gandhi: A Life” and known for his works on Gandhian literature, has been appointed as the director of Sabarmati Ashram Preservation Memorial Trust. Suhrud, who quit his professorship at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology in Gandhinagar, was appointed full-time director of the trust from August 1. The ashram was founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1917.

Rajni Bakshi is a Mumbai-based author, and the Gandhi Peace Fellow at Gateway House. She published a Research paper in October 2012 titled ‘Civilizational Gandhi.’ Rajni serves on the Boards of Child Rights and You (CRY) and Citizens for Peace. Her literary works include the celebrated ‘Bazaars, Conversations and Freedom: For a market culture beyond greed and fear,’ which won two Vodafone-Crossword Awards, ‘Bapu Kuti: Journeys in Rediscovery of Gandhi,’ and ‘Long Haul: The Bombay Textile Workers Strike 1982-83 (1986),’ among others.
