On December 18, Purvi Patel, International Affairs Fellow in India, Council on Foreign Relations and Visiting Fellow, Gateway House, participated in a panel discussion on Greening the Eastern Himalaya: Why Nature Capital Investment Matters. The panel was organised by the Balipara Foundation, Guwahati, Assam, as part of the 11th Eastern Himalayan Naturenomics Forum, held in Guwahati, Assam, on December 18-19, 2023. Purvi was in conversation with Dhanashree Jayaram, Assistant Professor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dr. Ashok Khosla, Chairman, Development Alternatives and Amb. Gautam Mukhopadhaya, Senior Visiting Fellow, Centre for Policy Research.
The panel underscored the importance of sustainable economic practices and discussed how governments and international organisations can collaborate to secure financing for conservation and sustainable development projects in the Eastern Himalaya. The discussion can be viewed here.
