On September 22-23, Gateway House’s Associate Fellow for National Security, Sameer Patil was part of the Indian policymakers’ delegation which visited the United States Mission to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (USNATO) in Brussels, Belgium. The trip was organised by the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.
The Indian delegation comprised of the Members of Parliament and strategic analysts and were hosted at the NATO headquarters as well as the Allied Joint Force Command at Brunssum, the Netherlands. The visit provided an overview of the functioning of the NATO, the partnerships it has built, its operations and its role in disaster mitigation apart from the NATO’s role in Afghanistan’s ongoing security transition.
Sameer Patil is Associate Fellow, National Security, Ethnic Conflict & Terrorism studies, Gateway House. Prior to this, he was Assistant Director at the National Security Council Secretariat in Prime Minister’s Office, New Delhi. Sameer has written extensively on various aspects of national security including cyber security, fake currency, terrorism, India-Pakistan relations, India-China relations, the Kashmir issue and nuclear proliferation for various magazines, journals and newspapers.
