Innovation, entrepreneurship & education in the digital age

Technological change and the arrival of the digital economy provide challenges and opportunities for every type of organization. The digital economy has been slow to take off in India. In the case of education, India spends more than Rs. 2.5 lakh crores every year on learning, with only 5% of it being digitized. Swift innovation is the need of the hour for both large and small entrepreneurs to deal with these rapidly changing realities but currently we spend only 0.9% of our GDP on new research and innovation.

On July 30, Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations, in collaboration with the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber, hosted Dr. Sheldon Levy, President and Vice Chancellor of Ryerson University in conversation with Shailesh Lakhani, Principal, Sequoia Capital, and Stewart Beck, High Commissioner of Canada to India, to discuss ‘Innovation, entrepreneurship & education in the digital age.’

He received a master’s degree in Mathematics and a Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) from York University.

Shailesh is Principal, Sequoia Capital India.
