From 10-11 February, 2023, Sifra Lentin, Bombay History Fellow, Gateway House, participated in the conference, ‘Discovering India-Japan Civilizational Ties and Southeast Asia Connectivities’, organised by the Kizuna India-Japan Study Forum, the Mombusho Scholars Association of India (MOSAI), and the India International Centre, New Delhi. She presented the paper, ‘Japan in Bombay and its Presidency: Trade, community, and cultural convergences in the 19th and early 20th centuries’ in Session V. The conference promoted the study of unexplored India-Japan historical and cultural interactions.
