On 21-22 October 2021, Gateway House, in collaboration with the Centre for Contemporary China Studies, organised a conference on “Leveraging China’s Economy”. The event explored ways for India to leverage China’s economy, with balance, using India’s digital economy and understanding how to decouple from China.
The event was opened by a welcome address by Lt. Gen S L Narasimhan (Retd), Director General, Centre for Contemporary China Studies, followed by a keynote address by Shri Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Foreign Secretary of India.
The two-day-long event was divided into five sessions-
1. Understanding Digital China and the Opportunities Within
2. Why India Matters to Digital China
3. China’s Economic Recovery: Implications and Lessons Learnt
4. Decoupling from China: Myth or Reality
5. India-China: Building Equitable Economic Relations
The event was concluded with an interaction with Dr. K Subramanian, Chief Economic Advisor, Gol followed by closing remarks delivered by Ambassador Rajiv Bhatia, Distinguished Fellow, Foreign Policy Studies Programme, Gateway House.
