The India-Pakistan conundrum

The American Library and the Department of Civics & Politics, University of Mumbai held a discussion on Stephen Cohen’s latest book, Shooting for a century: the India-Pakistan Conundrum. 

The discussion aimed to analyse the narrative of the India-Pakistan hostility through Cohen’s eyes, the varying narratives of the enduring dispute, analysing the efforts to normalise relations and the stalemate situation arising out of the nuclearisation of both countries.

The session was moderated by Sudheendra Kulkarni of the Observer Research Foundation and the panelists included Gateway House’s Sameer Patil, Parjanya Bhatt of the Free Press Journal and Akshay Ranade, Department of Civics & Politics, University of Mumbai.

Sameer Patil is Associate Fellow, National Security, Ethnic Conflict & Terrorism studies, Gateway House. Prior to this, he was Assistant Director at the National Security Council Secretariat in Prime Minister’s Office, New Delhi. Sameer has written extensively on various aspects of national security including cyber security, fake currency, terrorism, India-Pakistan relations, India-China relations, the Kashmir issue and nuclear proliferation for various magazines, journals and newspapers.
