Stimson Workshop: deterrence stability in South Asia

On June 18, Sameer Patil, Associate Fellow, National Security and Terrorism Studies, Gateway House participated in the Carnegie-Stimson Workshop on Deterrence Stability in South Asia, in Istanbul, Turkey. The workshop brought together mid-career researchers and academics from India and Pakistan interested in nuclear issues. The purpose of the workshop was to identify commonalities and differences in perceptions about challenges to deterrence stability in South Asia and to discuss how governmental and non-governmental actors can address these challenges.

Prior to joining Gateway House, Sameer Patil was Assistant Director at the National Security Council Secretariat in the Prime Minister’s Office, New Delhi. He has written extensively on various aspects of national security including cyber security, fake currency, terrorism, India-Pakistan relations, India-China relations, the Kashmir issue and nuclear proliferation.
