The future of Indo-German relations

On June 26, Ambassador Neelam  Deo, Co-founder and Director, Gateway House, met with representatives of the Ind0-German Parliamentary Friendship Group in Berlin. She held discussions with Josef Winkler, Chairman of the Indo-German Parliamentary Friendship Group and member of Germany’s Green Party (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) on the future of Indo-German relations and outcome of the Second India-Germany Intergovernmental Consultations held in April 2013.

Ambassador Neelam Deo is Director of Gateway House: Indian Council on Global Relations and former Ambassador to Denmark and former Joint Secretary for Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh. She is also a Distinguished Fellow with the Centre for Air Power Studies, and sits on the board of Breakthrough (a human rights organization), Oxfam India and Morgan Stanley Mutual Fund.

Josef Winkler is a German politician and member of the German Green Party (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen) since 1990. He has been the deputy head of the Greens in the German parliament since 2009 and a member of the German Parliament, Bundestag, since 2002. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Indo-German Parliamentary Friendship Group of the German Parliament and member of the advisory board of the Prime Minister of India and the Federal Chancellor of Germany for Indo-German relations.
