The India-China entente

The India-China entente

The India-China bilateral is Asia’s most compelling relationship despite history of conflict. The two countries have increasing economic co-operation which is often sighted as an example by other countries in conflict. However, accelerated economic cooperation in the economic arena continues to be supplemented with suspicion in the security realm.

On March 14, Gateway House hosted Dr. Huang Jing, Professor & Director, Centre on Asia and Globalisation, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy and Dr. Kanti Bajpai, Vice Dean Research & Professor, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, to discuss The India-China entente: Cooperation amidst conflict and competition.

This is the 12th meeting in the G20 Series hosted by Gateway House.

Dr. Huang is Professor and Director, Centre on Asia and Globalization, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKY School). He has authored prize-winning books that include Factionalism in Chinese Communist Politics, Crisis and Challenges in US-China Relations1989-1993 and Inseparable Separation: the Making of China’s Taiwan Policy.

Dr. Kanti Bajpai  is Vice Dean Research and Professor, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. Having recently authored a book on Roots of Terrorism, Dr. Bajpai is currently writing on India-China relations and Indian strategic thought.
