Reaffirming a different globalisation

Globalization appears to be giving way to a wave of nationalist protectionism. At this juncture, it is vital to focus on alternative visions of globalization anchored in concern for the environment, human rights, and economic democracy. The World Social Forum in Montreal from 9-14 August will gather more than 5000 people from across the world and serve as a window to the diverse endeavours in favour of a pro-local globalization based on trans-national solidarity.

The conference's theme, 'Where Geopolitics Meets Business', was appropriate for an event that brought the insights of India's energised foreign policy to a city that serves as the country's financial and business centre.

T20 Special

The China Daily ran a 2-page feature on the T20 Forum held in Beijing last week. Akshay Mathur, Director, Research and Analysis, and Fellow, Geoeconomics Studies, Gateway House, attended the forum and took part in a panel discussion on “Global Governance: System Improving and the Capacity Building”. Last June, Gateway House co-hosted the T20 Meeting in Mumbai alongside the Ministry of External Affairs and three Chinese think tanks.
